Interpretation of recent packaging policies in various countries

Sep. 22, 2022

Germany's "Packaging Regulations" stipulates that the volume and weight of packaging should be reduced to meet the minimum requirements to protect product safety and ensure product hygiene, and be acceptable to consumers. Where the packaging volume obviously exceeds 10% of the commodity itself and the packaging cost obviously exceeds 30% of the commodity, it should be judged as "commercial fraud" that infringes upon the rights and interests of consumers. For example, expanding the volume of the carton to create an illusion, etc., are all deceptive packaging. Excessive commodity packaging has great harm to society and economy. Firstly, it wastes resources, causes "garbage siege" and aggravates environmental pollution. Secondly, it damages the benefits of consumers and sellers and disrupt the market economic order. Thirdly, it is not conducive to building a conservation-oriented society, which is contrary to the concept of developing a circular economy.
